Originally published in two volumes, the Dissertations of Maximus Tyrius is the first reprint of Taylor's translation of the forty-one extant treatises of Maximus of Tyre since its original publication in 1805. A useful exposition of Platonic philosophy, it considers many subjects of interest to serious students, especially those of an ethical nature. Also included are two essays by Taylor entitled The Triumph Of The Wise Man Over Nature and Remarks On The Daemon Of Socrates.
