Item #3019 THE MARK. Maurice Nicoll.

THE MARK.

The Netherlands: Eureka Editions, 1998. 257 pages. Item #3019

New paperback facsimile of first edition in a dust jacket.

Known as the sequel to The New Man, this book discusses the idea that real religion is about becoming another man, latent but unborn, that exists in every man. The title comes from the fact that it is the target to be aimed at. Also, throughout the book Nicoll discusses the Gospels, and notes that the word, sin, (defined from the literal Greek transation) means missing the mark. A man, dominated by external life has no real life in himself. As Nicoll puts it, "In this sense, everyone has missed the mark, missed the idea of his own existence." Contains a useful index of Biblical quotations discussed by Nicoll.
