In a recent interview, Yleana spoke of how, for her as a pianist, this music is intimately connected with the body. With sweeping gestures she described the music rising up from earth into the body, resounding in the belly with the rhythmic pieces, moving up into the chest with the songs and dances, then on up and out with those pieces that are mysterious and sacred. "Like anything of value, this music must be heard many times - in a state of inner openness. It touches our being," she commented.
Rio arriba / Upstream: Ancient knowledge indicates that in the universe there are two forces: involution, a downward movement from the source into manifestation, and evolution, a movement of return to the source. We can see both of these in ourselves - they flow through us, ascending, rio arriba, and descending, rio abajo. This is not a question of good or bad - just a question of what is.
