Afterword from the publisher: During the last year of his life, Paul Reynard worked closely with us, choosing paintings for the book, directing the photographing of his own collection, overseeing the restoration of old negatives, and working with color corrections. Four days before his death, on October 28, 2005, with great force of concentration, he approved or changed the ordering of paintings and proposed an additional section for the book called "Re-Creation."
