The first nine volumes are by Professor Maspero, who closes his history with the conquest of Alexander the Great. There is no stated date of publication. The subsequent three volumes (numbered as volumes X to XII on the spine, but as I to III on the title pages,) were prepared by Dr. S. Rappoport, who drew heavily from more contemporary authorities, such as Prof. W.M. Flinders Petrie. Each of these last three volumes bears a publication date of 1904. This set is complete in twelve volumes with a supplementary "History of Egypt in the Light of Recent Discovery", by King and Hall, was published by the Grolier Society in 1906, after this set was printed.
